Walmart has patented an audio surveillance technology to record customer and employees –according to CBS News.
It isn’t being used right now, but it is raising questions as to how these recordings of conversations would be used.
CBS says that Walmart’s patent of ‘sound sensors’ will listen to those shopping and checking out — including reporting worker productivity.
Marlo Anderson, Guru of Geek, says, “Improve efficiency. Walmart’s all about efficiency so anything they can do to use technology to do that, that’s what they are going to do, but of course people think that there’s other things that they’ll be listening for.”
Anderson says if it’s for security reasons having audio would be beneficial.
