Mandan Police held a press conference on Thursday night after having detained a suspect Thursday afternoon in Washburn.
Mandan Police Chief Jason Ziegler said this is still an active however they have arrested a suspect on four counts of AA felony murder. That suspect is Chad Isaak who’s 44 and from Washburn, ND.
At 7:29 am, Mandan Police responded to a call at RJR Maintenance and Management. The victims had suffered stab wounds and or gunshot wounds. Many hours of video hours of surveillance were reviewed, which led to a suspects vehicle.
Thursday a search warrant was executed on the vehicle, and evidence discovered on Isaak and in the vehicle led to probable cause for his arrest. McLean County deputies pulled over Issak during a traffic stop.
Investigators will continue to process and gather evidence. Investigators will still gather information.
A motive for the crime is unknown at this time. Mandan Police say thank you for the patience and trust of Mandan citizens. They also thanked people for tips and help.
The Mandan Police Chief opened the press conference up to questions.
When asked if there was a connection between Chad Isaak and the homicide victims, Chief Ziegler said at this time that was unknown, but Isaak is a tenant of RJR Maintenance and Management.
Ziegler was also asked if one victim was targeted, or all four. He said this is unknown right now.
Police are not searching for any other suspects at this time.
We asked when the police began their search for Isaak’s vehicle. The Chief told us, after extensively searching through surveillance video, they knew on Monday what they were looking for.
Officers are still not releasing the time of the death of the four victims.
Chad Isaak is currently being held at the McLean County Jail. Ziegler is unsure when Isask will appear in court.
Chief Ziegler says this arrest is an entirely separate incident from the stolen vehicle incident in Washburn last night that drew in a heavy police presence.
