One elementary school in Minot is closed for today.

According to Superintendent Mark Vollmer, the main water line at McKinley Elementary School froze over the weekend.

Crews will work to fix the issue today.

Vollmer adds that all other schools in Minot are open as scheduled.

UPDATE 2:44 p.m:

Superintendent Mark Vollmer says the pipe froze up somewhere between the curb stop and the school on the southside.

Crews are still trying to get it thawed out to avoid having to dig.

“In my knowledge, in this building, we’ve never had the water main freeze up and this building has been around for a long time so it’s just kind of the winter that doesn’t want to give up on us so lets hope for warmer days,” said Vollmer.

Vollmer says they plan to have school Tuesday but will notify parents if anything changes.
