Today marks the finish of phase one of the flood protection project in Minot.
The community celebrated with a ribbon cutting.
After 2 years of construction, the Water Treatment Plant now has permanent protection from future floods.
Concrete walls span more than 17-hundred linear feet along the south side of the Mouse River. with two temporary roadway closures.
“Our first thought was to get the project done as soon as we can cause we never knew when another flood was coming and it could happen at anytime,” said Jeff LeDoux of Houston Engineering.
Senator John Hoeven was there along with Representative Kevin Cramer and the Mayor to celebrate this milestone.
“you’re never going to have to worry about boiling the water again,” said Sen. John Hoeven.
his is just the first of many initiatives to enhance flood protection for residents of Minot.
The next step is to start on phase 2 of the 3 phase project.
