This morning, the City of Minot imposed a mandatory water ration effectively immediately.
The main 12 million gallon per day treatment basin experienced a malfunction.
There is a backup treatment basin that will be used until the repairs are fixed, but it can only produce 6 million gallons per day.
The current water usage service area is 8-9 millions gallons per day.
Until repairs are fixed, the public should not water their lawns, get car washes, or use excessive amounts of water.
The ration will remain in effect until further notice.
