Wednesday’s Forecast Update 6/7

News
From the KX Storm Center:

For most of the state it has been sunny & warm with plenty of sunshine & light winds. Earlier this afternoon, there was severe weather in the Grand Forks Area with multiple tornado warnings before a tornado or severe thunderstorm watch was issued.
The next few days will bring more sunshine and temps climbing through the 80s & into the 90s by the end of the week. Not only will Friday & Saturday be the hottest days, they will bring the next rain chances in our 7day Outlook. With temps climbing well above average and closer to triple digits, more moisture is expected and dew points will climb through the 50s and into the 60s for some. These higher dew points will act like “thunderstorm fuel”. Also, daily rain chances are in the forecast Friday, Saturday & Sunday and will be associated with a couple of back to back low pressure systems. There is a Marginal (low) risk for severe weather Friday. It is still a little too far out to lock down this low risk for severe weather. However, if everything comes together it will be possible. Sunday/Monday a low will develop over the SD/NE border before moving North through the Dakotas/Minnesota and into Southern Canada. These higher rain chances are more than welcome and we need the rain.
Thursday & Friday, winds will gradually pick up & become breezy. Going into the weekend, it will become windy (for some) with our higher rain chances. High temps will fall out of the 90s and stay well above average into the beginning of next week. Once rain chances become more widespread (Tuesday/Wednesday) temps will fall back into the lower 80s & 70s.
Tonight, mostly clear to partly cloudy with seasonable temps. Lows in the 50s with a few 40s and a Light NE wind, 2-10mph.

Thursday, winds will become breezy for some with low rain chances. It will be mostly sunny with a little more warming. Highs in the 80s with a few 70s and an East wind 5-15mph G20-25.

Thursday night, mostly clear & a little breezy. Lows in the 50s & 60s with an East/SE wind 5-15mph.

Friday will be hot and a little humid with showers, thunderstorms & a low risk for severe weather. Highs in the 90s and 80s (North/East) with a SE/South wind 10-20mph G30. 40% chance of rain.

Friday night, partly to mostly cloudy with continued rain chances. Lows in the 50s & 60s with a few 70s and a SE/NE wind 10-20mph G30. 30% chance of rain.
