Wednesday’s Forecast Update 9/21

News

From the KX News Dakota Storm Center:

Today we have been seeing mostly cloudy skies with in & out cover and scattered rain, mainly in Northwest & North- Central ND. With a broad ridge of high pressure to our North and a stationary front to our South, off/on showers will remain hit & miss through the rest of today and tomorrow. Our active weather pattern is due to a series of weak lows developing and moving West to East (along a front) south of the Dakotas. This means that there will be a chance for rain with some clearing at times and winds remain breezy (swinging around to the East & SE) through the end of the work week. Not everyone will get wet and rain chances will remain on the Western & Northern edge of our viewing area, tonight & Thursday. Some of the scattered shower activity will stray into the rest of West & Central ND. By Thursday night & Friday, higher rain chances are expected with a few thunderstorms possible. These higher rain chances will continue from Friday through Saturday as a low pressure system moves across the Dakotas. Sunday will bring tapering rain chances; followed by clearing skies, more sunshine & slightly warmer temps through the beginning of the work week.

Tonight, will start off with continued in & out clouds and low rain chances tapering off. Isolated showers will be possible through the rest of the night. Lows on either side of 50 with a NE wind 5-15mph G25.

Thursday, partly to mostly cloudy skies with in & out cover and scattered rain through the day, for parts of the area. Highs in the 50s & 60s for most with a NE/East wind 10-20mph G30 and a 20% chance for rain.

Thursday night, partly to mostly cloudy skies with increasing cover and rising rain chances for Western ND. Lows will be on either side of 50 with an East wind 5-15mph G25 and a 20% –> 60% chance for rain.

Friday will bring continued rain chances with a few thunderstorms expected through the afternoon. There will be some clearing at times, especially in South-Central & Eastern ND. Highs in the 60s with an East wind 10-20mph G30 and a 60% chance for rain.

Friday night, mostly cloudy skies and scattered rain will continue, after a short break from showers/storms for some. Lows will be in the 50s with an East/South wind 10-20mph.
