Wednesday’s Weather Update 12/28

The latest from the Kx News Storm Center
The next few days will be breezy. Pressure gradients are tightly compacted, meaning the difference in air pressure across the state varies, creating stronger winds. Blowing snow is also a concern with the stronger winds. This is creating reduced visibility and snow is blowing back onto the roads. Winds will not be as breezy Thursday night, but they will pick back up Friday throughout the day. The top gusts will be near 40 mph at times and stronger in the west.
With the warmer temperatures, the snow on the roads is melting, but with lows tonight below 32 degrees, they will refreeze creating icy roads. Use caution when traveling. A high pressure system is building across the western part of the United States for the last half of the week. This is creating the warmer temperatures. Thursday will be slightly cooler than temperatures today, but then on Friday they will be back into the 30s, the sun will also showing. For New Years Weekend, the temperatures will get colder, with highs only in the teens. The start to the new year will be cloudy, and cold with highs near zero degrees and lows below zero.

Wednesday night, lows near 20 degrees and winds west/northwest at 15-25 mph and gusting to 35. Skies will have a few clouds.

Thursday, it will be windy to start, west at 15-25 mph and gusting to 30 mph, but then winds do calm down closer towards the evening to 5-15 mph. Highs in the mid 20s and a few clouds throughout the day, but mostly sunny.

Thursday night, lows in the single digits and increasing clouds through the night and a mainly light wind, west/south at 2-10 mph.
Friday, highs in the mid 30s with a partly cloudy sky. Winds pick back up, south/west at 10-30 mph and gusting to 35 mph.
Friday night, partly cloudy with breezy conditions and lows around 10 degrees.
