Cheryl Nelson has great timing. She arrived at the Williston Area RecreationCenter just as we were looking to speak with her. And just yesterday, she timed her arrival just right-becoming the ARC’s 1 millionth visitor.
“I didn’t know anything about it. I didn’t know it was going on. He said you’re the millionth and I’m like, huh?” says Nelson.
The 236,000 square foot sports facility opened in 2014. Among its amenities-a track, swimming pool, and even a golf simulator.
“Eventually you do get to those milestone numbers like a million visitors, but really, we were just worried about giving people the best experience that we could,” says Mike Amundson, the ARC’s facilities director.
The rec center continues to expand by offering new fitness classes and upgrading equipment.
This March, the ARC will be receiving new cardio equipment-
which is good news for Cheryl who enjoys using the treadmill.
And Cheryl will have plenty of opportunity to use the cardio equipment and other amenities at the facility. Being the ARC’s one millionth visitor came with a bonus-
a free annual membership to the facility.
“I’m not usually lucky and I never win anything,” says Nelson.
Well, we think your luck is starting to pick up.
And just maybe, the ARC has great timing as well.
The facility hit its one million visitor mark on the first day of 2017.
Seems like a great way to kick off the New Year.
