A deceased male recovered from water is believed to be Brandon Barnes. Barnes was previously reported missing after not being heard from or seen since around 1:30 Wednesday morning.
According to the Williston Police Department, tire tracks were located Thursday in the area of 11th Ave East and 54th St NW. A search team arrived on scene. A search of the water resulted in the recovery of a vehicle matching the description of Barnes’ vehicle. A deceased male, believed to be Barnes, was also located in the area. The deceased male has been transported to the North Dakota state medical examiner. The investigation is ongoing and more details will be provided as they become available.
Agencies assisting the police department in the water search include the Williams County Sheriff’s Office, North Dakota Highway Patrol, and Williams County Underwater Search Recovery.
The Williston Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing person.
29-year-old Brandon Barnes was last seen at his Williston residence on Wednesday around 1:30 in the morning. Barnes’ vehicle is also missing.
A neighbor found Barnes’ dog running loose around the residence around 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The police department is asking the public to be on the lookout for Barnes and his truck, a black Ford F-350 with Montana plates having the number BKP580.
There is also a Patriots sticker on the truck’s windshield.
According to the police department, Barnes family members say this is very out of character for the Montana native. The department has concerns for the safety of Barnes.
