(WKRG) — A Memphis grandmother is out of jail after being arrested and charged for a video showing her traveling with children inside of two pet kennels.

According to an affidavit, cell phone video from Saturday night shows Leimome Cheeks letting a child out of the kennel near the 3700 block Elvis Presley just before 8 p.m.

A concerned citizen shot the video and forwarded it to the police.

Cheeks, 62 has been charged with two counts of child endangerment.

Cheeks told police she drove from Whitehaven to Collierville with the 7 and 8-year-old children in the kennels.

She also drove to downtown Memphis, telling police she made stops to check on them periodically.

The children were told to ride inside the kennel because there was no room inside the vehicle.

The kids told police that there was no air in the back of the vehicle, later moving them into the backseat.

Local 24 spoke with Cheeks’ neighbors about her arrest.

“Shocking, it really is. I only met her like once maybe twice. She seems like a nice lady. I couldn’t see her actually doing that,” said neighbor Skylarr Blake.

Cheeks is expected to appear in court Monday at 9 a.m.
