A Nevada woman has been charged with physically restraining and assaulting her mother at the protest camp near Cannonball.
A court affidavit says Kathleen Bennett of Las Vegas zip-tied her mother to a chair and did not always feed or clothe her.
She’s also accused of hitting her with a shovel.
Bennett’s mother, who has dementia, was eventually admitted to a hospital for injuries.
Bennett is schedule to be in court today.
Officials say the abuse happened in December, although the pair had been living at the Oceti Sakowin Camp in Morton County since October.
