The Missouri Slope Central Labor Council is honoring North Dakota Workers Who Lost Their Lives on the Job

Volunteers from the council set up a memorial on the Capitol Grounds to remember those who lost their lives in work-related accidents in 2017. 8 Union members from North Dakotan died on the job last year and organizers say they hope today’s memorial can renew the struggle for a safe workplace. The labor council says most of the safety laws still used today were written over 4 decades ago and are long overdue for an update.

The memorial will remain in place until 4 p.m. tomorrow.
