President Donald Trump has renewed his nomination of former Lt. Governor Drew Wrigley to again serve as the U.S. Attorney for North Dakota.

Wrigley served in that role from 2001 to 2009, before leaving to serve as North Dakota’s Lt. Governor from 2010 to 2016.

Reacttion to Trump’s re-nomination of Wrigley met with praise from North Dakota’s two U.S. Senators.

“We welcome the President’s re-nomination of Drew now that the new Congress has convened,” said Sen. John Hoeven. “Through his many years of public service, both as U.S. Attorney and Lt. Governor, Drew has demonstrated his commitment to the people of North Dakota. He brings a depth of experience that will promote public safety in our state and help ensure offenders are brought to justice. We look forward to securing his confirmation as soon as possible.”

U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer issued the following statement: “As we were promised, the White House has re-nominated Drew Wrigley. This is good news for the people of North Dakota and all who stand for justice and the rule of law. Drew is an outstanding nominee with a wealth of experience, and I urge my colleagues to act quickly in order to make up for the failures of the 115th Congress.”

Wrigley’s nomination now goes to the U.S. Senate for confirmation hearings.
