Auto racing: Frederick credits eye for detail for success

National Sports

Richardton’s Zach Frederick leads the Street Stocks division this year, and he credits his success to his eye for detail in the middle of races.

The 29-year-old says his lifelong passion for race cars has given him a wealth of knowledge that he can tap into in the middle of races. For him, it’s the willingness to even make adjustments mid-race that can make all the difference.

“I pay attention to a lot of things while we’re racing that probably a lot of people don’t: what the car’s doing, how it’s handling, track conditions,” Frederick said. “I don’t run the same line lap after lap. If it’s not working I can find something else.”

Frederick currently leads Mandan’s Geoff Hellman in Street Stocks by 50 points.
