Babe Ruth tournament manager: Aafedt Stadium well-equipped to host major tournaments

The 2018 North Dakota 14-year-old Babe Ruth State Tournament is in full swing in Williston. The tournament started yesterday with six games on tap, four of which were held at a ballpark that is no stranger to big tournaments.

Aafedt Stadium has been home to numerous state, regional, and even World Series tournaments in past years, and it has a reputation as one of the nicest parks in the state. Tournament Manager Larry Grondahl says that reputation is thanks in no small part to the community.

“We couldn’t do what we’ve done with out them,” Grondahl said. “We’ve stuck a million and a half, two million dollars into this ballpark in the last ten years of improvements. Some features that have made it really nice like our video board and things like that.”

The tournament ends on July 23. The winner advances to regionals in Colorado, which begin on July 27.
