Big wins for the Vikings, Wentz and the Eagles, and also, yesterday, for Minot State. The Beavers defeated Wayne State 20-14 on the road, and without their startng QB. Zac Cunha went down early with a knee injury but Isaiah Weed stept up to lead the Beavers offense — Who were able to finish drives: A critical component of their game that they have been working on improving.
(Chris Carnes, Junior Left Tackle) “Over the summer, that was one thing we stressed on the offensive line was just showing up every day ready to work and finishing drives, finishes drives and finishing practices. It showed last night when we closed out a half and came out fast. I think that was a great representation of how hard we worked over the summer.”
(Tyler Hughes, Head Coach)
“On top of that they really performed well under pressure with some adversity when Zac got hurt. We had to play defense in the final minute in a yough 2 minute situation, so again some kids really stepped up at critical times. Isaiah came in and stepped up at a critical time given the circumstances and looking back at the tape, he played even better than I thought he did.”
That moves their record to 1-1. The Beavers are home this weekend taking on Sioux Falls.
