The Bismarck Bobcats completed a home weekend sweep of the Austin Bruins with a 4-2 victory on Saturday night.
Both goaltenders were busy in the first, but neither one let a shot get past, keeping things scoreless after the first twenty minutes.
Just 40 seconds into the second, the Bobcats’ Daniel Chadlek hauled in a lob pass and fired a shot off the far post and in for the game’s opening goal. Tim Piechowski added another goal to make it 2-0 Cats after the first two periods.
Bismarck added another goal in the third before the Bruins finally beat goaltender John Roberts. Dante Zapata scored twice for the Bruins to make it a 3-2 game with seven minutes to play.
Adam Stacho secured a power play empty net goal in the final minute of regulation to seal the win and sweep for the Bobcats.
With the win and another loss by the Minot Minotauros, the Bobcats have now jumped the Tauros and taken a one-point lead for second place in the Central standings.
