Bismarck Larks pull away late to win 2018 season opener

The Bismarck Larks won their 2018 season opener on May 29 at Municipal Ballpark.

The Larks defeated the Thunder Bay Border Cats, 5-1.

Bismarck came to the plate trailing by one run in the bottom of the first inning. In the Larks’ half of the frame, a Thunder Bay error with the bases loaded allowed two runs to score. The error gave Bismarck the lead.

Later in the inning, a base hit by Jacob Nesbit extended the lead to 3-1.

The Larks thought they had a 4-1 lead, but on a sacrifice fly, the runner from third left early.

In the sixth and seventh innings, Bismarck added one run to build a 5-1 lead.
