Bobcats forward Walinski: “No-brainer” decision to commit to Air Force

National Sports

Bobcats forward Mitch Walinski is coming back to the team for the 2018-19 season. After that, he’ll be joining the Air Force Academy to play four years of D1 hockey, and for Walinski, it’s a dream come true.

“My grandfather was in the Air Force, so he kind of talked to me about it when [Air Force] offered,” Walinski said. “I really put some thought into it, and hockey’s not going to last me forever, so it’s a great school. Their hockey program is unbelievable, so it was kind of a no-brainer decision for me.”

After his four years of hockey, Walinski said he will be serving for five years in the Air Force.
