Boys HS Basketball: St. Mary’s optimistic headed down the stretch

In boys high school basketball, so far this has not been a season to remember for St. Mary’s.

The guys are competing extremely hard. The Saints have lost some really close games to some really talented programs.

Currently, St. Mary’s has lost their last seven WDA contest, but they look to break that streak tonight when they travel to Century and despite the number of wins being down they are still optimistic.

“We need to come together more and play harder,” senior Andrew Nagel said. “Teamwork is going to be big for us coming up. If we work hard and we work together you can beat anyone in this league.”

“Just do the little things right,” senior Ben Schmidt said. “We are sticking in a lot of games, but we’ll have little break-down periods where that will determine the game. Just doing the little things right. Learning how to win the game and finish the game and make winning plays.”

This is the second time Century and St. Mary’s have faced each other. Century won the first meeting, 72-46.
