Boys HS Swim and Dive: Mandan’s Mindt goes for 3-peat on the diving boards

National Sports

The Mandan boys swimming and diving team is headed to state and we are waiting to see what All-State diver Johnny Mindt has in store for us.

Mindt took the WDA championship with a score of 450.95, but we have seen post much higher numbers. He posted 493.40 at the Century Invite. At the West Fargo Invite, Mindt eclipsed the 500-plateau with a score of 517.15.

Mindt said he this weekend he hopes to win his third state title.

“If you nail your hard dives,” Mindt said, “they’re going to give you more points. It’s the little voluntary dives that if you get them, you’ll be up with them — with the scores.”

The State championships will be this weekend at the BSC Aquatic Center on Friday and Saturday.
