Boys HS Track and Field: Bismarck High with plenty of talent returning

National Sports

The Bismarck High boys came up 21 points shy of a state championship last spring, but there is no time to dwell on the past. The Demons have plenty of talent back for the 2019 season, including 20 seniors.

Head Coach Darrell Anderson said the strength of the team will be sprints, mid-distance and hurdles, but he said that he needs to replace his jumpers.

“Our biggest hit in graduation was in the jumps,” Anderson said. “We lost Eric Krug in the vault and Derek Leingang and Dane Allen in the jumping events. So that’s a big loss for us. Right now, that’s not an easy thing to replace.”

This Thursday, the Bismarck boys open the season at the All-City Indoor Meet at U-Mary at 3 p.m.
