Boys HS Track and Field: Century’s state title defense starts off with indoor meet victory

National Sports

The Century Patriots started off their state title defense with a win at Class A North Dakota State Indoor Meet on last Friday.

Century scored 89.5 points to take the meet by 15.5 points. What was amazing about this meet is Century won the meet without winning an event. The Pats did take second in three events.

This early in the season, the coaches are just looking for a foundation so they can know the areas they need to improve.

“We just preach that we want them to go out and get a mark,” said Century boys track and field co-head coach Justin Miller. “Get a time. See where we are at so we know how to do the rest of the season and set goals from that. We don’t set goals before the first meet. We want to see where we are at. Then after that point, we go get it.”

The Century boys look for their second win of the year on Friday at the WDA Indoor Meet at the University of Mary at 2 p.m.
