Boys HSBB: Mandan boys hope last year’s state experience helps this season

In just two days, the Class A state tournament kicks off and the Mandan boys are making their second consecutive trip to the big dance.

In the West Region tournament, Mandan won their first two games. Then played another great outing against undefeated Jamestown, coming up eight points short of handing them their first loss of the season.

Mandan is the No. 2 seed for the West and the Braves feel last year’s experience will help them this season.

“Every game is going to be hard,” junior Elijah Klein said. “You can’t take rests or breaks at any moment in the game because every game is a close game and is lost by little possessions throughout the game, not just at the end of games.”

Mandan will face Grand Forks Red River at 4 p.m. and before that Legacy faces Fargo Davies at 2 p.m.

In the bottom half of the bracket, Jamestown battles Whapeton. Century starts their title defense against West Fargo.
