Boys HSBB: St. Mary’s ‘not satisfied’ with making State tourney

National Sports

For the St. Mary’s boys basketball team, preparing for the Class A boys state tournament is a new experience.

For the Saints, this is their first time they have been to state tournament since 2013-14 season.

The season started out tough for St. Mary’s. They lost their first eight games. However, the team kept fighting and pulled off wins in a WDA play-in game against Williston. Then in the West Region tournament St. Mary’s upset Bismarck and beating Dickinson in the state qualifier game.

Now that the Saints are in the state tournament they want it all.

“We definitely wwant more,” senior John Nordberg said. “We knew it was going to be tough getting there, we got our eyes on the prize. I think if we can take down the two seed in the West, I don’t see why we can’t take down the No. 1 seed in the East.”

Tomorrow, St. Mary’s plays Sheyenne at 6 p.m.
