Boys Track: Clements mandates time off for athletes who play overlapping sports

In North Dakota, the end of the winter high school sports season and the beginning of the high school spring season overlap.

One of the potential dangers for athletes that compete in back to back seasons is burn out.

Legacy boys’ track and field coach Chris Clements created a rule to help prevent athletes from burning out. He gives each athlete at least a week off.

“Our seasons overlap,” Chris Clements said. “So to avoid that type of burn out you want to give them as much time as they need to get refreshed and come back at it.”

This is not a rule mandated by the North Dakota High School Activities Association.

This rule is only for Legacy athletes under the direction of Chris Clements.
