A local skating club is displaying their talents all while raising money for those in need.
The Capital Ice Synchronized Skating club held its annual exhibition night Sunday at the V.F.W. Sports Center. The club’s nine different “sync” teams performed live in front of friends and family. Those in attendance were able to make a free will donation to Make-a-Wish.
Club Director Becky Gallion says the event aims to help grant a wish for a child in the local community, and it also helps get the younger skaters get used to the big stage.
“The goal is to get them out in front of friends and family, not such an intimidating environment as when they’re being judged at a competition,” Gallion said. “We go to Minneapolis this weekend, so it;s a way to get their programs out in front of everyone before we go to competition.”
Club volunteers told KX Sports that the exhibition raised over $3,500.
