The Bismarck State volleyball team won the Region XIII championship on Oct. 25 at the BSC Armory on the campus of Bismarck State College.
The Mystics seized control of the game when they won the marathon first set. BSC won that opening set 31-29. Bismarck State won the second and third sets, 25-17, 25-14, respectively.
The stand out player was Liza Doppler. She recorded 16 kills, nine digs and one block, according to stats submitted by head coach Jeni Walsh.
“We wanted it so bad,” Freshman outside hitter Liza Doppler said. “The whole season we’ve been working together. Every practice. Every time we stepped foot on the floor we were ready to go.”
This is the first time BSC has won the title since 2013.
The victory sends Bismarck State to the District Championship against the Region IX winner.
The District Championship will be Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at the BSC Armory. If there is an “if necessary” match, it will be played on Nov. 4
