Bismarck State College played two scrimmages against Upper Deck Baseball Club at Haaland Field Saturday afternoon, giving fans an opportunity to get an early glimpse of the 2018 team.
BSC’s defense quickly retired the Upper Deck hitters in the first frame. When the Mystics came up to bat, the team pounced.
With two runners on, first baseman Luke Leingang delivered a hard-hit single up the middle to score both runs on the play.
Later in the first with the bases loaded, Curtis Stahlecker hit a chopper up the middle. Upper Deck’s shortstop fielded it cleanly and successfully turned a double play, but Leingang was able to score from third.
The Mystics did not report a final score due to the game being an exhibition. The team has four more exhibitions scheduled over the next two months, including one in October against UMary.
