College Football: Stanton back on the sideline after suffering broken leg

National Sports

In college football, Dickinson State is in week three of spring practice.

The guys are happy to have head coach Pete Stanton back on the sidelines.

Stanton was out almost two weeks with a broken leg. He suffered the injury when a receiver ran into him while trying to catch a pass.

Coach is back on the field, although his mobility is limited. He gets around practice on a cart and still uses crutches to walk.

And coach even let the player the caused the injury stay on the team.

“He’s on the team,” Stanton said. “I know the quarterback felt bad and the receiver felt bad, but those things just happen on the field. I’ve been on the 30 years as a coach and 10 years as a player and that’s the first injury I’ve ever had. That’s just one of those things that happens on the field.”

Coach will start therapy next week. Dickinson State’s spring game is April 13 at the Henry Biesiot Activities Center.
