The University of Mary is in the early stages of creating a hockey team, but coach Daniel Huntley is already making plans for building the inaugural roster.
Huntley said Friday he will be starting the recruitment process in the coming days, and that he will consider different avenues for building a robust roster.
“We’ll be in search of all kinds of different kids,” Daniel Huntley said. “We’ll have some high school kids on our program. We’ll have a bunch of junior kids that are coming as older freshmen–20, 21-year-olds–that will impact our campus and our community in a different way.”
The UMary team, if approved, would join Division 1 in the American Collegiate Hockey Association.
