College Soccer: UMary loses heartbreaker to RMC

National Sports

UMary men’s soccer lost 3-2 to Rocky Mountain College Sunday at the Bowl.

UMary’s Zack Jenson opened the scoring in the 13th minute for his first of the year.

In the 23rd minute, Rocky Mountain sent a dangerous cross into the box, but goalie Ludvig Rhodin made an acrobatic save on the ensuing shot to hold the 1-0 lead.

Just before halftime, UMary’s Jaden Allen challenged a RMC player in the box, and the contact between the two resulted in a penalty call.

RMC’s Pablo Ferreira took the kick, and while Rhodin made the initial save, Ferreira ran forward to send the still-live ball into the back of the net to make it 1-1.

Jensen scored his second goal for UMary early in the second half, but Ferreira scored two more goals for Rocky Mountain, with the third coming near the end of double overtime to officially end the game at 3-2.
