Ten U-Mary track and field athletes are getting ready for nationals in Charlotte, North Carolina.
All the big names will be there for the Marauders.
On the women’s side, nine are competing, including three-time national champion Alexis Zeis. She will compete in the 10K run on opening day.
On the men’s side, Josh Lamers is the only male competing. Lamers will compete in the 110 meter hurdles.
Coach Dennis Newell said the biggest objective right now is to get his athletes back on schedule.
“Student-Athletes have a particular schedule most of them are type ‘A’ over obsessive,” Newell said. “So they have certain routines — or if you want to call them superstitions. When we travel like this it kind of throws everything off. So for us, it’s about being able to adjust.”
The national championships start tomorrow and run through Saturday.
