Century tennis alum Jamie Stoppler almost hung up her racquet after a successful tennis career.
“Last year around this time I wasn’t going to play. I was going to Mary, and I was more focused on schooling,” Stoppler explained. “I’m going to be going into PT school, so I wanted to really focus on my grades to make sure that all worked out. But talking to [head coach] Vida [Saliendra] really eased my nerves.”
Stoppler says she has been able to balance the schoolwork and team commitments, and she is glad she changed her mind. She currently serves as the team’s No. 4 singles player.
U-Mary next plays Minnesota-Duluth on March 30.
