The Philadelphia Eagles tweeted out an official announcement Friday that the team had signed Dickinson State star defensive back Jay Liggins.
Liggins had confirmed to KX Sports shortly on April 27, shortly after the NFL Draft, that he had reached an agreement with the Eagles and signed a deal the next day.
Now as a part of the 90-man roster, Liggins will be competing with other athletes to secure a spot in the final 53-man roster.
The DSU football and track star recorded eight interceptions in his final season with the Blue Hawks. In his four-year career, Liggins amassed 151 tackles, 36 pass breakups and 13 interceptions.
According to sources, Liggins would be the first Dickinson State football alum since 1944 to play in the NFL.
