DSU softball’s Shoffit staying loose at the plate while earning Player of the Week honors

Dickinson State softball’s Claire Shoffit earned North Star Player of the Week honors thanks to a 9-for-12 showing at the dish against Waldorf last weekend.

She collected 9 RBI, four doubles, two walks and a home run as the Blue Hawks won three out of four games at Waldorf. Shoffit said she’s doing a better job of staying loose at the plate lately.

“I struggled a little bit in the beginning of our Arizona trip, and towards the end I’ve just been seeing the ball really well,” Shoffit said. “Since it’s my last year playing, I’ve been trying really hard to just have fun. It’s nice to see us all come together. We’re finally getting that roster that’s set, so we can feed off each other. Hitting is so contagious.”

DSU opens a four-game set Sunday at Valley City State.
