DSU head football coach Pete Stanton said the team’s first offense looked sharp in the Blue Hawks’ spring game.
Returning starting quarterback Hayden Gibson led the first offense through several drives during the team’s 62-play spring game. Gibson found wide receiver Tyger Frye on a number of deep routes, with Gibson’s passes hitting Frye perfectly in stride each time.
“Our first group did a really good job,” Stanton said. “Hayden’s been involved in a lot of plays, and we have a pretty veteran offensive line and some of our receivers back. That really showed in the drives that they were in there. They were really comfortable, and I thought they executed very well.”
The Blue Hawks’ defense made their presence felt, as well. Stanton pointed to All-Conference linebacker Elijah Staton, who delivered plenty of big hits throughout the game.
