Christian Montes, Matt Warkentin, Mike Farnell and Ripken Reyes have all been named to next week’s Major League Dreams Showcase in Madison, Wisconsin.
A panel of Major League scouts names the top players in the Northwoods League to this Showcase, which has the players play a couple games in front of more pro scouts. It’s a big opportunity for the four Larks to raise their draft stock as much as possible. Despite the pressure involved with the honor, the players hope to treat the Showcase like any other day on the field.
“You want to play the same every day because baseball is all about consistency,” Warkentin said. “I’m not going to try anything different or too much.”
“There’s a lot of nerves just because I haven’t been in that type of atmosphere, but it’s baseball,” Montes added. “You just have fun with it, and that’s what I do.”
The Major League Dreams Showcase will be on Aug. 7 and will feature two games. The first will start at 4:05 p.m.
