Girls HS Basketball: St. Mary’s hot streak vaults them into 5th place

In girls high school basketball, St. Mary’s has been on a roll lately. The girls have six of their last seven games.

The Saints last two wins were nail-biters. A three-point win at Watford City, Then a two-point win at Minot.

St. Mary’s recent play vaults them into to fifth place in the standings and only a half game out of fourth place, which is currently occupied by Jamestown.

Head coach Shannon Copas says Hallie Schweitzer and Maria Mann have been great on the glass.

“That’s like our job being the two tallest people on the team,” Schweitzer said. “So we split pretty well together and we play off of each other well.”

St. Mary’s has a big test Thursday as they host the No. 3 team in the state: Mandan.
