After Day 1 of the Class A Girls Golf Championships, Century holds the lead at the Jamestown Country Club.
Century shot 332 as team on the first day, to hold a 13-shot lead of over second place Minot.
The next highest team from the Bismarck-Dickinson area is Mandan. As a group, the Braves scored +74, which is sixth best.
St. Mary’s as a team shot +84. The Saints sit in eighth place after the first day of competition.
On the individual side, there’s a three-way tie atop the leader board. Century’s Hannah Herbel, Minot’s Becca Tschetter and West Fargo’s Maggie Manson all carded rounds of 79. Hannah Herbel’s twin sister, Leah, was two shots worse and sits at +9 in fourth place.
St. Mary’s senior Gabby Easton led for most of they day, but struggled on the back nine and recorded a +10. She currently sits in fifth place, three shots off the pace.
The final day of the state championships is Oct. 2.
