Girls HS Hockey: Dickinson hanging on to playoff spot

National Sports

Since opening the season 0-4, the Dickinson girls hockey team has slowly been adding to the win column.

Their latest victory came on the road against Williston, which put Dickinson at 4-6-1 and in seventh place in the standings.

If the season ended today, the Midgets would be playoff bound. However, the team is still focused on racking up more points before the conclusion of the year.

That is a tall order for a young team.

“Last year we only had one senior,” Kira Kuntz said. “This year we have only one senior, so we do rely on our sophomores and juniors to try and lead the team.”

On Jan. 16, the Midgets face the Bismarck Blizzard at 7 p.m.. The Blizzard won the previous meeting 4-0.
