In girls high school tennis, St. Mary’s is off to a 1-1 start in conference play.
The Saints defeated Century to start the year, but ran into some tough competition against Mandan on last Thursday.
This year, St. Mary’s has sophomore Jenna Steigelmeier at their top singles spot, which is the first time the Saints have had a player this young in their No. 1 singles position in a couple of years.
The top rated players in the WDA are tough, but Jenna said she is ready for the challenge.
“It’s fun to get to lead the team this year because in my previous years I’ve been kind of watching everybody else, Steigelmeier said. “This year, I get to take some more responsibility.”
Tomorrow, the Saints host Dickinson at home at 4:15 p.m. at Tom O’Leary.
