Girls HS Track and Field: Bismarck sees strength in 25 throwers

National Sports

In girls high school track and field, Bismarck High finished fourth at the state meet last season.

The Demons lose Blythe Ehrmantraut — who won the triple jump and then took second in the Long jump, Pole Vault and High Jump. She accounted for 34 of the team’s 70 points at state last season.

They also lose junior Kate Dillman, who had Tommy John surgery after a gymnastics injury. This year, head coach Tim Kolsrud thinks the strength will be in their 25 throwers.

“Track’s a game of numbers,” girls head coach Tim Kolsrud said. “Obviously, the more numbers you have the better chance you have for success.”

The Demons will have their first meet of the season tomorrow at the U-Mary All-City Indoor Meet starting at 3 p.m.
