As usual, the Legacy girls qualified for the state tournament, but not in the manner they scripted.
The Sabers needed overtime against St. Mary’s to earn a berth in the tournament. In that game, they blew a 13-point lead, but there are some positive takeaways. Legacy found out what it takes to win a close game, which is a skill that can only help them in the state tournament.
“It definitely does,” sophomore guard Arianna Berryhill said, “but we know that they are still a lot of tough teams out there. We need to keep on top of our game and be ready for them coming into the state tournament.”
Legacy will be the No. 3 seed. They face Shanley at 7 p.m.
