HS Baseball: St. Mary’s veterans will look for freshman to step up

In high school baseball, St. Mary’s will be one of the youngest teams in the WDA this season.

Head Coach Mike Feldman says he will 18 eight graders and freshman this year, so some of those freshmen will have to step up to the varsity level, but there is still talent around from last year. Sophomore infielder Jackson Uhler and senior infielder Alex Schaefbauer will look to be big contributors, as well as lead those younger players.

“You know they just need experience,” Schaefbauer said. “I expect them to step and play well.”

“Obviously,” Uhler said, “a lot of guys have put in work over the summer in the offseason and in the winter and stuff. There’s a lot of good things. There’s a lot of things to improve on, but definitely a lot of better and good things from last year.”

The first scheduled game for St. Mary’s is Mar. 29 in Fargo aginst Fargo North.
