In boys high school tennis, the Legacy Sabers will go into the this week’s WDA tournament with the No. 1 seed, but the championship is far from decided.
The Sabers are going for their fourth straight region tournament championship.
One of the tougher opponents Legacy will face is No. 3 seed: Williston.
On Aug. 31, the Sabers went to Williston and won 7-2, but that was a really close match and could have gone either way.
“[Williston] is one of the best in the West,” Legacy’s No. 1 rated single players Michael Janes said. “They were pretty good competition. We had some guys have some pretty close matches and they ended up pulling through. It was a good match. I feel like we were just stronger that day.”
On the singles side, Michael Janes looks to repeat as singles champ.
The tournament starts on Thursday in Minot.
