HS FBall: New-Salem hoping for repeat performance against Shiloh Christian

National Sports

In 9-Man football, we are a day away from the highly anticipated Region 5 championship rematch between New Salem-Almont Glen Ullin and Shiloh Christian.

In the first meeting, the Holsteins won the game in a blowout, 50-22. The win gave New Salem a first round bye in the playoffs.

Last week, the Holsteins ran all over Surrey, 63-6. All of New Salen’s victories this year have been by at least 28 points.

I think it’s safe to say the Region 5 champs are clicking on all cylinders.

“I would say that we are more experienced,” head coach Steve Kleinjan said.”We’ve got some very talented kids that are playing for us at skill positions and on the offensive line. I think the combination of talent and experience have been the two things paying off.”

On Saturday, New Salem looks to avenge last year’s playoff loss to Shiloh Christian. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. in New Salem.
