A look at the Week 2 matchups for Bismarck High and St. Mary’s.
As good as Bismarck high looked in Week 1, they looked just as bad, if not worse, in Week 2.
That’s not my opinion, it’s that of Bismarck High Coach Mark Gibson.
West Fargo beat the Demons 41-0 in a game were the state runner ups did not show up.
The result is not a good sign as they head into WDA play against Minot this week.
Coach Mark Gibson said he was very disappointed in the team’s performance.
“Our confidence is shaken right now,” Coach Gibson said. “We’ve got to find something that happened that’s good for us. The biggest thing is that we have to rally around each other. Nobody is going to give us a chance now which is fine, but as long as we believe we’re ok.”
The Demons game against Minot kicks off at 7 p.m.
St. Mary’s has been extremely impressive on offense and defense, so far this season.
On offense, the Saints have scored 98 points in two games, 49 in each contest.
On defense, St. Mary’s has not to allowed a single point. This week, St. Mary’s faces Wahpeton, their best opponent record-wise so far.
Dan Smreker has been equally impressed with the offense and the defense.
“Both very good, “Smreker said. “What we look for is how much have we improved and I thought we did improve on both sides of the ball in the second game. I thought our discipline was better in the second game.”
On Sept. 6, St. Mary’s is at home against Wahpeton.
