HS Fball: Wildfire still ironing out wrinkles

National Sports

Mott-Regent-New England football is still adjusting to their new co-op.

The newly formed co-op is 1-2 on the season, but winless in Region 5 of 9-Man.

However, those two losses came against Shiloh Christian and New Salem-Almont, established 9-man teams that went deep into the state playoffs last year.

As for this year, there is still time to turn things around, but getting over the co-op transition is still a major hurdle.

“Going from [Class AA] to 9-Man there’s a lot of changes,” head coach Nate Zachman said. “I told them we have formations with three down lineman and they kind of looked at me and smiled a little bit. I don’t know if they believed me.”

This week, Mott-Regent-New England is at home against Richardton-Taylor-Hebrin.
